God so loved the world... -- free Christmas coloring page

Merry Christmas, friends! This week I have a coloring page for you that celebrates Christmas with the greatest gift of all - that God loves is so much He gave us His son, "that whoso believeth in him should no perish, but have everlasting life." - John 3:16 If we truly learn to feel that love, it can change everything about how we see ourselves and our experiences in life. My Christmas wish for each of you is that you will truly feel the love of God as you celebrate the gift of His son. ❤️

Give Thanks unto the Lord - free Thanksgiving coloring page!

Hello friends! This week I have a lovely page for you that is perfect for Thanksgiving. This month I have been loving studying gratitude using the beautiful free study guide from The Small Seed. My greatest lesson so far is that gratitude leads us to JOY. We all have challenges, but when we look at our lives with a heart seeking to see God's blessings, there is so much more that is good. How can we help but give thanks to our Heavenly Father for all of it?

I hope you have a wonderful week, and that your eyes will be open to God's tender mercies for you. They will be there, because He loves you.

To print this page, just right click on the image below and save to your computer, then print normally. Make sure you check "fit to page" so the edges don't get cut off. Feel free to share! Also, you can pre-order my coloring book "The Colorful Word: Meditate Upon the Scriptures" in my etsy shop now. Delivery in time for Christmas!

Cheerfully Do All in Our Power - Free Coloring Page!

Hello, friends! I'm delighted to be back with another coloring page for you today.  I love this scripture so much: "Therefore, dearly beloved brethren, let us cheerfully do all things that lie in our power; and then may we stand still, with the utmost assurance, to see the salvation of God, and for his arm to be revealed." - D&C 123:17

I think this is a recipe for happiness, especially in difficult times - we cheerfully do what we can, then stand still and trust In God's plan for the rest. ❤️

Fullness of Joy - Coloring Page #26

***Great news! I'm turning my coloring pages into a beautiful coloring book and journal, which will be published and ready to ship just in time for Christmas! If you're interested, you can pre-order now on Kickstarter!***

Happy Sunday, friends! I really loved General Conference last weekend. I noticed a recurring theme with so many speakers, too -- it was all about JOY! Joy in life, joy in the gospel, joy in our discipleship. President Nelson's talk was especially meaningful to me - I loved how he taught "Joy is powerful, and focusing on joy will bring God's power into our lives." I'm still wrapping my brain around all that that can mean for me, but in the mean time, I have not one but two coloring pages for you this week, one with that thought, and one with one of the scriptures President Nelson quoted in his talk. If you haven't heard it, get over to LDS.org and check it out!

Open Your Hearts - Coloring Page #25

***Great news! I'm turning my coloring pages into a beautiful coloring book and journal, which will be published and ready to ship just in time for Christmas! If you're interested, you can pre-order now on Kickstarter!***

Hello there! This weekend is a special one for members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints -- over the next two days, our prophet, apostles, and other leaders speak to the world, bringing messages of faith and direction from our Heavenly Father. It's always incredibly uplifting - some of the greatest moments of personal revelation I've had have come from the messages of General Conference. You can check it out at lds.org!

In honor of the weekend, this week's coloring page comes from Mosiah 2, in which a prophet called all his people together to give them his final counsel. He began his message by calling them to "open your ears that ye may hear and your hearts that ye may understand." That's what I'm praying for for myself as I soak in the messages of the next two days. And I'm not going to lie - for myself I'd have to add "open your eyes that ye may not fall asleep..." because sometimes that happens, too. :)

Enjoy this free coloring page, and the others here on the blog - they're a great way to keep your hands busy while you can listen to conference! :) To print this page, just right click on the image below and save to your computer, then print normally. Make sure you check "fit to page" so the edges don't get cut off. Feel free to share, and have a wonderful week!

Great shall be the peace of thy children -- Coloring Page #24

***Great news! I'm turning my coloring pages into a beautiful coloring book and journal, which will be published and ready to ship just in time for Christmas! If you're interested, you can pre-order now on Kickstarter!***

Happy Sunday, friends! This week's coloring page is in the style of an embroidery sampler, and it comes from Isaiah 54, and I think it's one that we all recognize and take comfort from as we try to teach our kids and raise them up to have faith in the Lord. Because this is really the end goal, isn't it? We want our children to have peace in their lives and in their hearts, and having a relationship with our Savior and our Heavenly Father is the way that peace can last whatever life throws at them.

Proverbs 31 - Coloring Page #23

***Great news! I'm turning my coloring pages into a beautiful coloring book and journal, which will be published and ready to ship just in time for Christmas! If you're interested, you can pre-order now on Kickstarter!***

I can 100% guarantee that if you are a mom, you have felt the strain of trying to balance all the things. If you are a mom and also trying to to figure out how to work a business or career in with it, the difficulty just multiplies. We second guess ourselves - are we giving enough to our family? Are we giving them the short end of the stick by trying to take care of them AND work? If we didn't, would we get so stifled and burned out that we wouldn't be a very good mom anyway? Not to mention the fact that many of our families depend on our income to make ends meet. Sometimes it feels like whatever we choose won't actually be good enough one way or the other.

And of course I don't have the answers because I'm right there in the thick of it myself, but I wanted to share an amazing scripture - Proverbs 31 - with you for this week's coloring page. My new friend Marcella of @ilovewoolies shared this with me and it pretty much blew my mind. It's the chapter of Proverbs that talks about a virtuous woman's worth being above rubies, and later on about her children rise up and call her blessed. I've heard those a million times, but I never noticed the whole chapter is about this virtuous woman WORKING, making things with her hands to sell, feeding and clothing her family, reaching her hands out to the poor, employing other women as well. You really need to read the whole chapter - it may give you a new perspective on your career efforts. Because after all that description, her children rise up and call her blessed. Of course our families deserve our very best, but we have so much capacity to work and to create and to grow - maybe we need to give ourselves a little more space to do that without heaping so much guilt on ourselves.

Be ye kind to one another - coloring page #22

***Great news! I'm turning my coloring pages into a beautiful coloring book and journal, which will be published and ready to ship just in time for Christmas! If you're interested, you can pre-order now on Kickstarter!***

This week's coloring page scripture has become an oft-repeated mantra for me. I recently found this passage from Ephesians 4:31-32 that hit me right right in the heart: "Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice: And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you." Now, not that *I* would ever let anger and frustration get the better of me, especially with the people I love the most, but... These words remind me so powerfully that those negative reactions accomplish nothing and need to be 'put away.' We need to turn instead to kindness and forgiveness and love.

Be Ye Doers of the Word

***Great news! I'm turning my coloring pages into a beautiful coloring book and journal, which will be published and ready to ship just in time for Christmas! If you're interested, you can pre-order now on Kickstarter!***

Happy Sunday! For the last few weeks I've been thinking a lot about this scripture from James 1:22: "But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only..." We know from the scriptures that we are saved by the grace of the Savior - it is only through His power and Atonement that we can be forgiven and come back to live with our Heavenly Father. No amount of good works, without His grace, is enough. So why the admonition to be doers of the word and not hearers only? I had a picture in my mind of bees gathering nectar -- they go from flower to flower collecting all that sweetness, and that is like hearing the Word of God. It's sweet and wonderful. But the real magic only happens when they take it back to the hive -- the bees are able to turn that nectar into the honey that sustains them and their whole hive. Being a "doer of the word" - being willing to keep the commandments and DO the things Jesus taught - is like taking the nectar to the hive -- taking the sweet thoughts and feelings we experience when we hear the word of God and turning into actions that help us BECOME like our Savior. That becoming is what sustains us; it's the whole point of all that we're commanded to do. Our Heavenly Father wants so much happiness and sweetness for us, but we've got to bring that nectar to the hive to experience it.

Happy Sunday! I hope you enjoy this coloring page, and remember that your Heavenly Father loves you. He is never far from you, especially when your heart is troubled. Sometimes we want to protect ourselves when we're hurting, and we are afraid to open our hearts even enough to let Him in. We don't want to be disappointed on top of the pain we're experiencing. What doth the Lord require of thee? - Coloring Page #18

***Great news! I'm turning my coloring pages into a beautiful coloring book and journal, which will be published and ready to ship just in time for Christmas! If you're interested, you can pre-order now on Kickstarter!***

Happy Sunday! This week's coloring page comes from Micah 6:8 "He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the Lord require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?" Sometimes I think we like to make long lists for ourselves of all the things we think the Lord requires of us - all the things we're supposed to be and do - when really it all boils down to the basics. If we can do these, everything else grows naturally from that. I think it's when we get it backwards, when we try to force all the to-do stuff without grounding ourselves in these basic principles and the 'why' of discipleship that we start to feel overwhelmed and even inauthentic. I'll be putting this one away in my mental file of things to remember when I get feeling that way, so I can take a deep breath and begin again.

God has not given us the spirit of fear -- Coloring Page #17

***Great news! I'm turning my coloring pages into a beautiful coloring book and journal, which will be published and ready to ship just in time for Christmas! If you're interested, you can pre-order now on Kickstarter!***

Happy Sunday! This has always been one of my favorite scriptures -- I turn to it when I feel fearful or weak, and it reminds me that those feelings do NOT come from God. He wants us to feel powerful and full of love. But the part that means the most to me at the moment is the promise of a "sound mind." Mental illness runs rampant in my family, with everything from depression and anxiety to paranoid schizophrenia. I thought that I had dodged the bullet, but this year I have been struggling with intense anxiety that hit from out of nowhere. It has attacked my confidence in myself and in my faith, but Heavenly Father continually pulls me back from the brink and reminds me that those feelings of doubt and uncertainty and fear are not His message to me. If I hold on to Him and let Him pull me out of the spiral, I can feel that confidence of a "sound mind." I am so grateful for His love and grace and the power that comes through Him. And I repeat this scripture as a mantra to myself, to help me remember Him and His love in those moments of darkness. Power, love, and a sound mind are our heritage from God, and He can help us get there.

I am a disciple -- Coloring Page #16

***Great news! I'm turning my coloring pages into a beautiful coloring book and journal, which will be published and ready to ship just in time for Christmas! If you're interested, you can pre-order now on Kickstarter!***

Hello again! I finally have another coloring page for you -- this scripture was a request from my friend Wendy, and I finally have it finished only 10 days too late for the event she needed it for... Sorry, Wendy! But I really do love this bold declaration of discipleship found in 3 Nephi in the Book of Mormon, written by Mormon, the prophet who compiled all the records which would one day become the Book of Mormon. His life was so hard - he watched as his whole nation turned away from God until he and his son Moroni were the last disciples of Christ left - but that didn't change his determination to do all he could to follow the Savior and do what he could for his people and for all who would come after. And his identity as a disciple of Christ is what kept him from despair! It gave him joy and courage and wisdom and love, even in the face of the greatest adversity.

I decided to try something different for this week's page and go full-on folk art with the design. I've always loved the intricate flowers and bold shapes, and I thought this would give us lots of fun nooks and crannies to color. Have a lovely week, and check back in next week -- I've already got a page in the works that I really like.

Tomorrow the Lord Shall Do Wonders -- Coloring Page #15

***Great news! I'm turning my coloring pages into a beautiful coloring book and journal, which will be published and ready to ship just in time for Christmas! If you're interested, you can pre-order now on Kickstarter!***

This week's coloring page was a special request from my dear friend and former mission companion Lindsay Young. She sent me the story of the meaning behind it, sent to her by her friend Michelle, and it's so lovely I had to share it with you:

"I love the scripture that Elder Holland quoted in his last conference talk from Joshua, “Sanctify yourselves, for tomorrow the Lord will do wonders among you.” The story that goes along with that is the Israelites came to the Jordan River to go into the Promised Land, and it was overflowing so they didn't know how they would cross. The Lord said to the priests that carry the ark of the covenant  "as soon as the soles of the feet of the priests...shall rest in the water Jordan" that he would stop the water.  The priests acted in faith and went into the river Jordan and the Lord stopped the water.  When everyone was safely on the other side, the Lord said that one member of each of the twelve tribes should go back into the riverbed and get a stone before the priests crossed and the water flowed again. They were then to take these stones and build a monument or memorial so that when their children and their children's children walked past this monument and asked, "What means these stones?" (verse 6 and 21) they would remember all the wonders that the Lord had done among them as their deliverer and redeemer."

There are times in our lives that we feel we're sure to be swept away by the deep river we're called to cross. I feel the Spirit testify so strongly that if we just move forward in faith, the Lord can make it possible. Thanks so much for sharing this wonderful story with me, Lindsay -- your timing for what I needed was truly inspired.

Fun sidenote about this one -- the wildflowers on this page are some that actually grow in Jerusalem. I loved the idea of beautiful things growing up around the monument as time passed. Thanks, Google!

Enjoy this week's free coloring page, and as always, feel free to share!

Heart, Might, Mind & Strength -- Coloring Page #14

***Great news! I'm turning my coloring pages into a beautiful coloring book and journal, which will be published and ready to ship just in time for Christmas! If you're interested, you can pre-order now on Kickstarter!***

Today's coloring page is one of my favorite missionary scriptures - "O ye that embark in the service of God, see that ye serve Him with all your heart, might, mind, and strength..." (D&C 4:2) But I think it's for more than just full-time missionaries -- it reminds me that I need to be all in, present and intentional as I seek to create a whole life that is in the service of God. The verse continues: "...that ye may stand blameless before God at the last day." Not perfect, but purposeful -- we do what we can and our Savior does the rest through the Atonement. Our best -- our heart, might, mind, and strength -- is enough.

Enjoy this free coloring page by right-clicking on the image below to save to your computer. There are two versions -- one has more of the verse and one is just the anchor image above. As always, feel free to share!

Lift up your head -- Coloring Page #13

***Great news! I'm turning my coloring pages into a beautiful coloring book and journal, which will be published and ready to ship just in time for Christmas! If you're interested, you can pre-order now on Kickstarter!***

These are some of my favorite words in the Book of Mormon. Heavenly Father doesn't want us to hang our heads in sorrow and discouragement. He wants us to take comfort in the covenants we have made to follow Him, to remember the promises He has made to us as well as the ones we've made to Him. He recognizes our efforts and He has a plan to fulfill every promise He has made to us, even if we don't see how it could possibly happen. A wonderful friend once told me, "If you give up on your miracle, you close the door on it ever happening." So hold your head high, even when things are really, really hard - God has not forgotten you, and you can be confident in that.

Faith, Hope, Charity & Love -- Coloring Page #12

***Great news! I'm turning my coloring pages into a beautiful coloring book and journal, which will be published and ready to ship just in time for Christmas! If you're interested, you can pre-order now on Kickstarter!***

I've always loved this scripture. It doesn't say being perfect qualifies us for the work, or always knowing what to do, or anything else. It says that if we want to help Heavenly Father in His work of saving souls (including our kids', our families', and our own), what we need is faith, hope, charity, and love. Sometimes I have just enough faith to hang on to hope, and sometimes it's hope that sustains me when my faith is struggling. Charity gives us patience with others and with ourselves, and love is the point of the whole thing. So when I feel overwhelmed by life, by all that seems to be required of me, I remember this verse and I try to realign my priorities and my expectations for myself.

Better than you think you are -- Coloring page #11

Happy Mother's Day! Being a mom is not for the faint of heart -- loving these little people with every ounce of yourself and worrying every day that you're screwing the whole thing up, wanting to give them the best of yourself without going completely bonkers in the process, trying to act like you know what you're doing when every day seems to throw some new craziness at you you have no idea how to deal with. There are days your heart feels so full, and days you feel totally empty. Wherever you are on that scale today, may these words lift you up. They're from a wonderful General Conference talk called "Behold Thy Mother," and would make a lovely read for today. You could even watch it while you settle in with a coloring page!

The Lord looketh on the heart -- Coloring Page 11

***Great news! I'm turning my coloring pages into a beautiful coloring book and journal, which will be published and ready to ship just in time for Christmas! If you're interested, you can pre-order now on Kickstarter!***

Happy Sunday! I've been thinking about this scripture a lot lately: "for the Lord seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the Lord looketh on the heart." 1 Samuel 16:7. I'm so grateful that the Lord knows my heart. He sees every part of us and loves us for the total person we are. We can bring every bit of us to Him, without reservation. I love this quote from Chieko Okazaki: "Heavenly Father doesn't want to hear only nice prayers. He wants to hear real prayers, honest prayers.....He doesn't want polite platitudes. He wants you! All of you!. He wants to be the center of your total life-the worried you, the mad you, and the sad you, as well as the inspired, happy, obedient, loving you." How often do we try to hide the parts of ourselves we don't like, because we're afraid others - and even our Heavenly Father - will like us less because of them? But He already knows all those parts of us, and none of it can ever diminish His love for us or our worth in His eyes. And as we bring our whole selves to Him, we can create a much deeper relationship with Him. And He is mighty to save.

Come, follow me -- coloring page #10

***Great news! I'm turning my coloring pages into a beautiful coloring book and journal, which will be published and ready to ship just in time for Christmas! If you're interested, you can pre-order now on Kickstarter!***

"Come, follow me... and do the things which ye have seen me do." -- a mashup of 2 scriptures, one from the New Testament and one from the Book of Mormon. Jesus did a lot of things during his short ministry, but the great motivating factor behind each was LOVE. Drawing people has never been my strong suit, but when I was figuring out what to do for this page I was moved by the image of Jesus with his arm around someone who was in pain, helping them continue down the road. I thought about the story of Lazarus dying, and how Jesus mourned with his sisters. He knew their pain would soon turn to joy, but He was still filled with compassion for their sorrow and wept with them. I couldn't think of a better image for the kind of disciple of Christ that I want to be - a person who supports people wherever they are on their own rocky path, helps them to move forward AND feel surrounded by love.

But boy, this page has given me fits. I really loved how the lettering turned out, but I tried about a dozen different things for the rest of the page without finding something I really loved. I'm using this for Primary (the children's class in our church) tomorrow, so I wanted to do something that would appeal to the boys as well as the girls, which meant my go-to florals were out. So that's why you get three different options for download this week!
