GRACE -- Coloring Page #7

***Great news! I'm turning my coloring pages into a beautiful coloring book and journal, which will be published and ready to ship just in time for Christmas! If you're interested, you can pre-order now on Kickstarter!***

I have been really trying to learn more about grace lately. I've been struggling with some health and anxiety issues, and of course trying to do way too much. Because I'm a woman and who of us doesn't? This scripture really stood out to me - 2 Corinthians 9:7-8:

"7. Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.
8. And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work."

I had always focused on the "cheerful giver" part, trying to do everything, give everything, and do it with a cheerful attitude. But I think I've been leaving God's grace out of the equation - He is the one who gives us the abundance we need to do all these good works without self-destructing. He is willing to help us, but we have to be willing to accept that. I'm still figuring out how all that works, and praying for His grace to make it happen, but it reminded me very much of one of my favorite quotes by Thomas S. Monson: "My dear sisters, do not pray for tasks equal to your abilities, but pray for abilities equal to yours tasks. Then the completion of your tasks will be no miracle, but you will be the miracle."

That's not to say we can't or shouldn't say no, set boundaries, and be realistic. I think it means that God sees our potential so clearly and wants to help us get there. He can help us when it feels like we're so overloaded we're going to self-destruct. His abundance can be our own.

Also -- I just read the most wonderful, amazing talk by Patricia Holland, called "'One Thing Needful' - Becoming Women of Greater Faith in Christ." It is everything my heart has been yearning for, the kind of thing you need to read over and over again and take into your heart. Please click that link and read it for yourself!

I hope you enjoy this coloring page -- you can save it to your computer to print as a full page, and feel free to share!

Trust in the Lord -- Coloring Page #6

***Great news! I'm turning my coloring pages into a beautiful coloring book and journal, which will be published and ready to ship just in time for Christmas! If you're interested, you can pre-order now on Kickstarter!***

Trust in the Lord -- it's as simple and as hard as that. It's a decision we have to make every single day, especially when things get rough. But I've found, as have countless others, that when we make that choice to trust Him, He truly does direct our paths, and He takes us places we never could have imagined. This is the perfect accompaniment to one of my all time favorite quotes from our prophet, President Monson -- "Do not ask for task equal to your abilities, but ask for abilities equal to your tasks. Then the performance of your tasks will be no miracle, but YOU will be the miracle." It's all about what we become!

Enjoy this coloring page, and feel free to share!

Come Unto Me -- Coloring Page #5

***Great news! I'm turning my coloring pages into a beautiful coloring book and journal, which will be published and ready to ship just in time for Christmas! If you're interested, you can pre-order now on Kickstarter!***

This week's "meditate upon the scriptures" coloring page is another personal favorite: "Come unto me, all ye who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest." Matthew 11:28. There is a never-ending stream of things to do -- mom stuff, wife stuff, work stuff, house stuff, social stuff, extended family stuff, service stuff, church stuff, and on and on. And it really does feel like we are "heavy laden" at times. Even when we aren't under the strain of a particular trial, just the work of everyday life can start to feel like it's grinding us down. I find that when I feel that way, it's because I haven't been asking for help from the Savior like I should. He truly will give us rest from the things - big or small - that weigh us down. For more on this, my favorite talk on the subject is "Bear Up Their Burdens with Ease" by David Bednar. Have a lovely week!

The truth of all things - Coloring Page #2

***Great news! I'm turning my coloring pages into a beautiful coloring book and journal, which will be published and ready to ship just in time for Christmas! If you're interested, you can pre-order now on Kickstarter!***

Here's another coloring page, based on Moroni 10:4-5. We believe that each person can receive their own revelation from God through the power of the Holy Ghost! This scripture is the theme for Sharing Time tomorrow in Primary, so I'm going to send one of these pages home with each kid. Enjoy!

Peace, Be Still -- a new coloring page!

***Great news! I'm turning my coloring pages into a beautiful coloring book and journal, which will be published and ready to ship just in time for Christmas! If you're interested, you can pre-order now on Kickstarter!***

Welcome, friends! I'm very pleased to be resurrecting the old blog for a fun new purpose. One of my goals this year is to "meditate on the scriptures," so I decided that each week I'm going to create a coloring page based on a favorite scripture. I love this one - the disciples were afraid, and they decided that Jesus must not care that they were perishing. How many times do we let fear get the best of us, throw up our hands, and decide He must not really be there for us? And yet with a few words He stilled the storm that threatened His disciples' physical safety. He can do the same for us, when our spiritual storms threaten to capsize our little ship of faith!

To download and print out this coloring page, just right click on the image and click "save image as...", then print from your computer. It's set up as an 8.5"x11", so it should work just great!

I'll upload the coloring page each week right here on the blog, so keep an eye out here or on Instagram (@littlethingshappy) to see the new images. Thanks!
