Out of the Depths - Free coloring page

The story of Jared and his family found in the beginning of the book of Ether in the Book of Mormon has so many parallels to our life journey. On this read-through I was especially impacted by how the Lord prepared them for the journey to be really, really difficult. He describes mountain waves that would dash upon them, and Ether describes furious winds and monsters of the deep. But the Lord promised that they would have His light in the depths, and that He would always bring them back to the surface.

We are really in the depths right now as a family, as we lost our beloved 18-year-old daughter last month. All I can do is hold on to these promises: that He is in charge of the winds and the floods and will not leave us to cross these great waters in darkness. I know that the wind never ceases to blow up towards Him, if we let him steer our little ships.

A Perfect Brightness of Hope - free coloring page

I've been thinking and reading a lot about HOPE this week, preparing to teach a lesson in church based on Jeffrey R. Holland's recent talk "A Perfect Brightness of Hope," and I had a bit of a light bulb moment that our ability to have hope is based on our relationship with our Heavenly Father and our Savior. If we know - truly know - they love us, if we have a relationship with them that is built on our experiences with them, we can continue to trust in hope and move forward through whatever life throws at us. It allows us to live by faith joyfully and with hearts filled with charity!

The Great Plan of Adventure - free plan of salvation map download

Elder Dieter F. Uchtdorf gave a wonderful sermon yesterday about the adventure of our life and eternal progression, likening it to Bilbo's journey in The Hobbit. It made my Tolkien-loving heart so happy. So what could be better than a fantasy map version of the Plan of Salvation? I hope you enjoy it - you can download this file for free and print it at 8x10 (Just right click on the image below and save to your computer, then print as you would any picture. For personal use only.).

If you'd like to print larger, you can purchase a higher resolution file here:

Free Doodling Practice Sheets!

Doodling is fun! But I know it can be a little intimidating if you're just getting started. I made these fun sheets to teach a group of amazing young women how to get started doodling flower wreaths, and I thought some of you might like to use them as well!

The idea with these is to use this first page as a practice sheet to practice some handy flower doodle shapes, then use the second page to make your own work of art! Use the light gray circle around the lettering as a guide, and just fill it with all the flowers you learned to doodle from the first page. Have fun!

Worry is a misuse of imagination - free coloring page!

You know what I haven’t done in a long time? A free coloring page! This quote is one I needed for myself lately, as my anxiety has been rearing its ugly head more than usual. I love the idea of putting my imagination towards more beautiful things instead of letting myself slide down a spiral of worst-case scenarios. This coloring page is available as a free download on my blog at tomiannie.blogspot.com. Have a lovely day, friends!

Do what you can... a free positive coloring page!

I saw this quote on Pinterest a while ago and it's stuck with me. It is overwhelming to think of all that needs fixing in this world, and even just in my own marvelous-but-messy life. It's easy to get down and feel like I just don't have the talents or the resources to figure it all out or make an impact. But these words from the charismatic pragmatist Teddy Roosevelt just cut through all the overthinking and overdramatizing that likes to happen in my brain: "Do what you can with what you have where you are." You start there and see where it takes you, and then as new opportunities open up and you develop new abilities, you keep moving forward. Trust in yourself, and for me I'd add trust in God's help, and just get to it!

To download this free coloring page, just right-click on the image below and save to your computer, then print as you would a full-page picture. You can also download the full-color version as a printable in my etsy shop. Have a great week!

You're entirely bonkers... free happy thoughts coloring page!

I absolutely love this quote from Alice in Wonderland. Don't we all feel a little bonkers sometimes? It's nice to remember we aren't alone, and that our struggles don't diminish our worth. The cheerful folk art style of this one is a tribute to Lisa Congdon, one of my favorite illustrators. Enjoy! You can also download the full-color illustration (above) from my etsy shop.

The Noblest Art - circus typography art coloring page

You know those people who just seem to lift others and bring happiness to the people around them no matter their circumstances? That's what this quote (from the end credits of The Greatest Showman, aka the best movie ever) is about, to me - the gift of bringing joy and positivity to the people around you. Other talents are awesome, but you can never go wrong trying to develop that one!

Enjoy this free coloring page (just right-click below to save it to your computer), or head over to my etsy shop to download the full-color printable. Have a great week!

Speak the Beautiful! - free coloring page

It's high time we had another free coloring page around here! I love this quote - I have been blessed to be surrounded by so many people who do this, who help me see the best parts of myself when I don't always see them on my own. Sometimes it can be a little scary, because we don't know how our words will be received. Or maybe we get a little bit insecure and we start just focusing on how someone else's beautiful makes us feel less than. But I think we should be brave and just do it. Maybe it's because my love language is words of affirmation, but I just think this idea is so powerful. So help someone see the beautiful in themselves today!

Scandinavian Christmas Pattern + free coloring page

Oh, how I love the Christmas season, especially Scandinavian Christmas! Nisser (elves), candles, greenery, julehjerter (those woven hearts), dala horses, birds, and cozy cups of cocoa - in Denmark it's all about creating that hygge feeling of warmth and togetherness and home. I thought I'd try my hand at a repeating pattern, which turned out to be a lot trickier than I envisioned. But I think this would make the cutest wrapping paper! If you'd like to you can download it as a coloring page below... God jul! (That's Merry Christmas in Danish.)

If you could read their story -- free happy thoughts coloring page - #LighttheWorld

This coloring page is a repost, but I thought it was perfect for today's #LighttheWorld theme: "Judge not, that ye be not judged." The more we get to know others, the more we open our hearts to each other, the less we are inclined to judge them. It takes way more work and vulnerability than making snap judgments, but that's what we're here for - to learn to love.

Friday, December 1, 2017

Hello, friends! It is officially Christmas time and I am absolutely thrilled. I'm also super inspired by the #LighttheWorld campaign - all about sharing the light of Christ this season by doing the things that he would do. There's a wonderful video and a daily calendar that you can watch and download here - 100% guaranteed to get you in the true spirit of Christmas.

This week's coloring page celebrates that theme. I hope you'll enjoy it and share it as you look for your own ways to light the world this beautiful Christmas season.

What a Wonderful World - free gratitude coloring page

Thanksgiving is nearly here, and I have one more gratitude-themed coloring page to share with you. This old Louis Armstrong song is my favorite when my heart is filled with gratitude - this world really is wonderful, filled with love and abundance if that is what we cultivate. I love the word abundance. To me it means consciously recognizing that our lives are full of blessings even as we struggle. We choose abundance through gratitude!

Click these links for this year's first and second gratitude coloring pages. And here's a link to last year's Thanksgiving coloring page as well.

The power of finding beauty - free gratitude coloring page

I saw this quote on instagram the other day (thanks to the talented @merryletter) and it struck me so forcefully. This is gratitude and abundance - opening our eyes to the beautiful lives we have and the beautiful world around us, finding joy in what we already have and truly seeing the gifts we've been given. What a gift that would be to the people we love and to ourselves! And then this very morning I started the @smallseed daily gratitude devotionals with my kiddos and found this quote: "because the beauties of life are so abundant, sometimes we take them for granted. Our minds have a marvelous capacity to notice the unusual. However, the opposite is true as well: The more often we see the things around us—even the beautiful and wonderful things—the more they become invisible to us. That is why we often take for granted the beauty of this world: the flowers, the trees, the birds, the clouds—even those we love. Because we see things so often, we see them less and less. Those who live in thanksgiving daily, however, have a way of opening their eyes and seeing the wonders and beauties of this world as though seeing them for the first time. " -- Joseph B. Wirthlin

Gratitude! - free Thanksgiving coloring page

Ah, November! This month all our happy quotes coloring pages will center on gratitude, because it really is the key to happiness in our own lives and in all our relationships. Here's one of my favorites, by Melody Beattie, complete with some lovely fall foliage. The acorns are a symbol that gratitude is a small act that grows into something so strong and beautiful in our lives. Enjoy!
