I learned an important lesson today -- a beautiful sunny Saturday in July is not a good time to host a boutique, no matter how much publicity you do for it. :( I was so disappointed in the turnout at the boutique today! We had maybe 10 people show up (maybe 15 if you count my nephew and the guys that came with my mom and sisters -- thanks Reubz and Dave!). Since I did over 200 invitations, advertised on KSL and craigslist, and invited almost 100 people via Facebook, plus made huge signs to go all over the neighborhood, it was very disheartening. Mostly I just felt really bad for all the other vendors given up their Saturday for so little result. It was a darn good thing my mom did come -- I think she was the main buyer for just about everyone there!
But, looking on the bright side, it at least motivated me to get my house really clean. Now maybe we can keep it that way until Eliza's born (hmmm, 5 more weeks? Here's hoping!). And I did have fun getting ready for it, with all the fun projects I did. Oh, and my sweet hubby painted my bedroom today (I think he was trying to escape from all the girly-ness in the rest of the house) and it looks so much better! So the day was definitely not a total loss. Thanks for letting me vent!
Oh, Tomi, sorry about that...I would have come if I lived nearby...sounded like something I would have enjoyed. Good luck on keeping the house ready for Eliza...I find every week doing chores hoping I won't have to worry so much about it the next week! I can't wait for my precious baby to arrive...I am sure you feel the same. Best wishes!
ReplyDeleteWhat a bummer!! I would have loved to have come, but a two hour drive each way and feeling as tired as I am lately probably wouldn't have been the best thing right now. I am sorry to hear that it didn't turn out the way you wanted to, but hey, you got a clean house and a painted bedroom out of it. ;)
ReplyDeleteOh no...that is too bad. I know I would have been there, but I'm in Florida. Oh well. I really liked all the beautfil things you made for it too. Congrats on your upcoming arrival. Baby girls are so sweet:)
ReplyDeleteTanks for the comment on my card=)
ReplyDeleteI love you're work!
Sorry to hear it was not as good as you wanted to be. That's one of the reasons I do not even advertise that I am a CTMH consultant anymore. I only buy stuff for me now and if my friends want to buy, I will take their orders, but I cancel my website and I am not sending Idea Books anymore... I rather use that money buying more stuff for me. It is now easy being a consultant, at least NOT the way they make it look.
ReplyDeleteHUGS, Sonia
Sorry to hear about the poor turnout. It sure would have been fun to see your stuff. Everything you post is so gorgeous and detailed!
ReplyDeleteSo sorry about the no shows. I live in Utah and learned a long time ago not to plan things on weekends close to the 24th. You have beautiful stuff and it looked like it would have been fun. Wish I had known about it sooner.
ReplyDeleteKeep up the great work
